Books we’re reading!

I finished Traitor, the case of Benedict Arnold and at the end it tells that no where is his name written in the battlefields (Saratoga just mentions a major general was wounded here who helped to win this battle) or in the U.S. Military Academy at West Point where plaques are dedicated to Revolutionary Generals his plaque just bears the dates: 1741-1801. Interesting stuff. I am now reading the second in the Pendragon series, The Lost City of Faar by D.J. MacHale, a good sci-fi book.

I just finished the book Fairest by Gail Carson Levine, she is the author of Ella Enchanted. A very good book this one is loosely based on Snow White. After I shared about Into Thin Air Mrs. Murray said the new book Peak by Roland Smith is a fictionalized version of climbing Mt. Everest. Sounds good. I have started reading the book Traitor, the case of Benedict Arnold by Jean Fritz.

We just received a great review on the 2nd in the series book entitled The Rise of the Black Wolf. I had commented on this last month that the series Grey Griffins had a second book out, our patron said “This is the best book I’ve ever read!” I can’t wait to read it after that great review! The first in the series is Revenge of the Shadow King.

I am reading the book Into Thin Air by Jon Krakauer. It is the story about the climb to Mount Everest in 1996 that ended in several people losing their lives. I have gotten to the part where they are getting to the base camp. Much more goes into the planning and climbing of these mountains than I knew, also in 1996 it cost $65,000 to climb Mount Everest. Another good reason not to go, besides, danger, cold, and I am in no shape to accomplish it! We own another of his books that is being made into a movie, it is entitled Into the Wild.

Look on our New Materials page for a list of our new books and DVD’s. :-)
