This year in Kansas we are going to read a local author’s book The Virgin of Small Plains by Nancy Pickard. This is a fictional story about a murder of a young girl and how it effected the town it happened in 20 years ago. A really good mystery story based in the Flint Hills of Kansas. Come in and get your copy and read and discover a Kansas author.

What we are reading…

Hello, here we are in the year 2009! Hope everyone had a good Christmas and New Year. I just finished reading my 81st book for the year 2008. I had decided to keep track this year and that is where I ended. My final book was Dewey by Vicki Myron, a story about a cat who as a kitten was shoved into the library’s book drop on a cold and snowy night and found the next day half frozen with frostbite on his feet. Connie is reading our WAW book The Mailbox by Audrey Shafer, this is a first book for this author and a great read! Suzanne is reading Goose Girl by Shannon Hale, she is the author of the WAW book Princess Academy from last year’s list. Mandy is reading Lone Star Christmas by Pamela Griffin, Cathy Hakes, Vickie McDonough and Kathleen Y’Barbo, an inspirational romance collection. I just ordered new books for January and we will be getting the Janet Evanovich soon. Come by and start the New Year right, reading a good book.
