What we’re reading…

I decided to read one of our Young Adult books that we purchased this year, it is a series that has been going in and out like mad. Twilight by Stephenie Meyers, so far it is very well written and keeping my attention. Ask around I am sure someone you know has read this series. Mrs. Murray is reading a new book from Junior Library Guild entitled No Choirboy by Susan Kuklin. She says it is very interesting. Connie is reading Yellow Star by Jennifer Rozine Roy, one of this years WAWs. Mrs. Dunn has been listening to Miss Julia Meets her Match by Ann Ross and says it is very funny. Come by and see what we are reading!

The book, No Choirboy: Murder, Violence, and Teenagers on Death Row by Susan Kuklin, is a collection of non-fiction accounts from teens on death row and their experiences. Its point of view is unique in that its author narrates and explains the tales in between first-hand stories from the teens. Each chapter is about/from a different inmate. Reading their accounts is sad, frustrating, yet uplifting in several cases. Grizzly details of prison life are given in an honest and unoffensive manner that will give students a horrifying view into a life they do not want to choose!
