Well I have returned from my vacation, what a fun time. I just finished a couple of fun books. I am purchasing the series by Monica Ferris the first of which is Crewel World another fun murder mystery that also comes with a free needlework pattern in the back of the book! I also read the second book by Lisa Lutz entitled Curse of the Spellmans. It is about a family of Private Investigators that just can’t help spying on each other and everyone they meet. A funny story. We will be putting out some new movies in the next couple of days so be sure to check the new materials page. Also we have some new kids books that have just come in . Stop by and see what’s happening!
I just finished the last in the Yada Yada series. This is a really fun series that also deals with serious issues. Mrs. Murray just finished a chapter book entitled Swindle by Gordon Korman. It is a fun story about 2 young boys who find a priceless baseball card and get swindled when they sell it and how they come out on top. She is going to read next a young adult novel, Frozen Fire by Tim Bowler. It begins with a phone call from a stranger saying “I’m dying” and continues in suspense. Mrs. Wasson is going to read The Pearl by John Steinbeck. Mrs. Dunn is listening to the Sunrise series by Karen Kingsbury. Don’t forget you can just click on the book cover and see if the book is back in our library yet. October is here and fall is in full swing. Enjoy a good book!
I decided to read one of our Young Adult books that we purchased this year, it is a series that has been going in and out like mad. Twilight by Stephenie Meyers, so far it is very well written and keeping my attention. Ask around I am sure someone you know has read this series. Mrs. Murray is reading a new book from Junior Library Guild entitled No Choirboy by Susan Kuklin. She says it is very interesting. Connie is reading Yellow Star by Jennifer Rozine Roy, one of this years WAWs. Mrs. Dunn has been listening to Miss Julia Meets her Match by Ann Ross and says it is very funny. Come by and see what we are reading!
I have been reading the book, The Slave Ship by Marcus Rediker, it is very interesting and would be a good read after reading the book The Copper Sun by Sharon Draper if you needed more information about that time in history. I have also been listening to the series Babylon Rising by Tim LaHaye, I am listening to it on my MP3 player but we also own it on CD and have the book, a series about a Biblical archaeologist and finding Biblical artifacts, kind of like Indiana Jones. Also look on our New Materials web page for new books and DVD’s. J.A. Jance and others, great stuff!!
I am trying to get through the WAW list before school but I am also reading 90 minutes in Heaven by Don Piper. A story about a man who was declared dead and came back to life after a Baptist preacher prayed for him, his recovery and what he is doing today. I am also listening to Last Light by Terri Blackstock, a story about what would happen if we suddenly lost everything that was electrical, this includes every motor. A very good read so far and this is the first in a series.
I have been gone on vacation and had a good time. I shared some authors and want to put them on the blog. The author Karen Kingsbury, the first is the Redemption series, the next is Dee Henderson beginning with the O’Malley series. Francine Rivers books, The Atonement Child and Redeeming Love, also the Lineage of Grace series and the Sons of Encouragement series. I also just finished the last in the ongoing series by Donna Andrews, her first book is Murder with Peacocks. All good books for anyone to read. Also check out our School New Materials page and see the list of this years William Allen White books. Have a good week!
